Wesley Perkins Joins TelAlaska as Nome Area Supervisor
Lifelong Nome resident Wesley Perkins has joined TelAlaska as Nome Area Supervisor, according to CEO Brenda Shepard.
Perkins is a graduate of Nome Public Schools and the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where he earned an applied science degree. He was most recently employed by Nome Public Schools, and previously was an employee of Nome Joint Utilities and the Alaska Department of Transportation. He also operated his own recreational vehicle dealership for twenty years in Nome.
His public service includes leadership in SPARC, the Nome Ham Radio Club, where he serves as president. He has been on the Nome Volunteer Fire Department for 32 years, holding all positions including Fire Chief for seven years until 2007. He is Training Officer for the Nome Volunteer Ambulance Department.

TelAlaska Cellular Introduces Cellular Service in Nome
TelAlaska Cellular wireless telephone service will be available for the first time this week in Nome. Service will be in place in Nome beginning Thursday, June 3 and will be launched with a community event from noon to 7 p.m. at the TelAlaska offices in the Old Federal Building.

A $1 Lifeline rate is available for customers who qualify. A variety of cell phones will be available.

TelAlaska Cellular wireless telephone service will be available for the first time this week in Sand Point. Service will be in place there beginning Thursday, November 12 and will be launched with community events from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the City Building (Council Chambers). The event will feature door prizes, including a $500 cash prize.
