* Utilizes various company systems and software necessary to perform the duties of the job, service order entry, collections and customer record maintenance.
* Gets along well with others and works effectively in a team environment.
* Writes professional letters to customers when necessary.
* Communicates with all customers in a friendly, professional manner regardless of customer’s demeanor.
Customer Service Representative II
Must be able to proficiently perform 80% of the following duties to receive the title and pay of a CSR II.
* Demonstrates a good understanding of Internet services and answers customer questions.
* Solicits sale of new and/or additional services.
* Consults with the Customer Service Supervisor, when appropriate to offer suggestions for improvements, sharing customer comments, complaints, and/or reporting trends.
* Resolves customer billing inquiries and/or complaints concerning service requests, trouble reports, current and/or final billings, installation charges, and service credits pleasantly, efficiently and accurately.
* Makes courtesy calls to customers regarding past due accounts in a timely manner, utilizing appropriate judgment factors.
* Makes payment arrangements and monitors payment plans for past due accounts.
* Prepares and sends packages to designated Collection Agency for further collection activity.
* Responds to, records and files customer correspondence and returned mail in a timely and accurate manner.
* Reconciles credit card receipts with bank credit card statements on a monthly basis.
* Issues material requests, including appropriate coding. Checks status and updates upon receipt of requested materials.
* Trains other Customer Service Reps on new or existing processes, as requested by Customer Service Supervisor.
* Knowledgeable of “partner’s” duties.
* Supports team by covering duties in partner’s absence.
* Creates customer directory listings and forwards these to appropriate company to ensure accurate white pages and directory assistance listings.
* Works final notice reports, high toll reports, daily payment due reports, write-off lists and deposit refund reports in a timely and accurate manner to ensure prompt payment and adherence to tariffs and reduced bad debt requirements.
* Processes customer bills requiring special handling before mailing
* Processes returned checks.
* Posts other charges and credits on service order or OCC batch.
* Updates LIDB data base (# maintenance, incoming blocks and calling card info.)
* Maintains a working, up-to-date copy of all written Customer Services policies and procedures in a format that is readily accessible for use as applicable.
* Reports all computer hardware and software problems in a timely manner to supervisor, and inputs trouble ticket to IT Department.
* Processes tolls from carriers to bill end-user and works associated reports.
* Facilitates and participates in departmental meetings.
* Maintains common office area, as well as individual work area in a neat, tidy manner.
* Processes ASR's from other carriers. (Has the knowledge to determine necessary steps required to accomplish customer’s request). Enters circuit orders in Martins. Communicates with CABS regarding ASR’s, according to established procedures.
* Determines which tariff the customer’s circuit request should be governed by.
* Responds to customer questions regarding the status of circuit orders.
* Updates progress of circuit orders on spreadsheet as necessary. Keeps circuit files according to established procedures.
* Processes requests for calling cards. Knows the different types of cards our customers use, and how to troubleshoot, including who to contact in the event difficulties arise.
* Receives circuit trouble tickets, and knows how to find and enter trouble tickets in the system.
* Handles cash on a daily basis, accurately balancing till each night. Prepares daily bank deposit including cash and checks, balancing to cash register and payments posted in Martins.
* Tracks phone equipment inventory available for sale to customers. Orders additional telephone stock as needed.
* Inputs advertisements into character generator based on advertiser's requests. Determines if ad is free (non-profit requests), or billable and bills appropriately. Ads are run on cable service in areas where cable is provided by TelAlaska.
Basic Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One year recent customer service experience in the Telecommunications industry, or 2 years related customer service experience preferred. Title: Telecom Technician Trainee - Nome and Dutch Harbor Description: This position is a trainee level position and is responsible for learning the duties and responsibilities of a Telecommunications Technician to be able to provide basic installation, testing, maintenance and repair of telecommunication facilities and equipment, such as, but not limited to, COE, CATV, CPE, OSP, buildings, and vehicles in a safe and proper manner as set forth by company policy and without constant supervision. Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
* Learns to install and maintain basic telecommunication services (such as dial tone, picture/reception, etc.) according to company specifications, tariffs and guidelines.
* Learns to install pedestals, protectors, and grounding to company specifications.
* Learns to perform routine office maintenance and/or repairs on equipment (such as, batteries, alarms, air filters, and general fluid levels) and following procedures for maintaining site logs and records.
* Learns to locate telecommunication cable.
* Learns to splice and repair new and existing telecommunication cables.
* If applicable, learns and becomes certified to climb poles & towers to install or repair telecommunication lines and facilities.
* If applicable, learns to troubleshoot from the pedestal to the customer television set, including changing out tap plates and cutting in taps where necessary for a new installation.
* Learns to troubleshoot malfunctioning telecommunication cables using testing devices such as meters and analyzers, to locate and diagnose nature of the problem.
* Learns to assist Telecommunication Technicians with various duties and projects, as needed.
* Sets up and operates road safety devices per instructions.
* Levels earth to fine grade and company specifications using hand tools.
* If applicable, operates equipment such as, but not limited to, back hoes, trenchers, cable plows, or dozers.
* Performs repairs and maintenance on company equipment and buildings.
* Positions, joins, aligns, and seals telecommunication conduit.
Progressive Advancement:
This position requires the employee to qualify for a progressive advancement into the Telecommunications Technician position within 12 months of hire into this position. Failure to qualify for the advancement will be interpreted as a lack of genuine willingness to learn the duties of the Telecommunications Technician position. In order to qualify for the progressive advancement the employee must demonstrate skill proficiency in the areas listed below and be able to perform the duties listed above without constant supervision. Skill proficiency will be determined via written and/or practical examination and subsequent certification by the supervisor or technical trainer. Demonstrated proficiency must be observed by the supervisor.
* Demonstrates the skills necessary to operate and understand voltage detector readings.
* Completes and successfully passes all the required segments of the safety training program.
* Demonstrates the proper locating techniques on a variety of buried cable and successfully passes all required exams and demonstrations.
* Becomes certified in pole climbing, where applicable.
* Becomes certified to operate heavy equipment, where applicable.
