    Affordable Connectivity Program From TelAlaska

    By Celine Kaplan | Recent News & Information | Comments are Closed | 30 December, 2021 | 0

    Please note: Congress recently created the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), a new long-term, $14 billion program, that has replaced the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) Program. The name of the discount has changed on TelAlaska’s invoices. Most households enrolled in the EBB Program as of December 31, 2021 were automatically accepted into the new ACP program and will continue to receive their current monthly benefit.

    TelAlaska is an approved participant in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) through our affiliates, Interior and Mukluk Telephone. ACP is a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program that provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband bills for qualifying low-income households. If you reside in a TelAlaska serving area, your household is on Tribal lands and you could be eligible to receive up to a $75/month discount on your internet service. The credit may not be used for overage fees or any other charges. Subscribers may choose the plan that best meets their needs or change their current plan. Service is subject to disconnection for non-payment. Only one monthly service discount is allowed per household and it is non-transferable.

    Who is Eligible?
    A household is eligible for the ACP if the household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or if a member of the household meets at least one of the criteria below. For complete details, please visit acpbenefit.org/do-i-qualify.

    • Participates in certain assistance programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, Federal Public Housing Assistance, SSI, WIC, or Lifeline;
    • Participates in one of several Tribal specific programs, such as Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribal Head Start, Tribal TANF, or Food Distribution Program on Indian
    Reservations;
    • Participates in the National School Lunch Program or the School Breakfast Program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision;
    • Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year;
    • Meets the eligibility criteria for a participating broadband provider’s existing low-income internet program.

    To apply, please follow the steps below. If you are currently enrolled in the Lifeline program, you do not have to verify your eligibility again; please skip to #3.

    1. The ACP Online Portal is now available. Please visit acpbenefit.org/how-to-apply/ to complete the online application with the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) or print an application and mail it to the the address listed. *Important note for TelAlaska customers: on the application, please be sure to check the box for Tribal Lands in order to receive the maximum benefit for Alaska internet customers.
    2. After you submit an application, USAC will share the results with you. If you apply online, you may receive an immediate approval. If USAC cannot prove your eligibility automatically, they will request additional documentation from you and provide information on how you can submit those documents for review.
    3. Once USAC approves your application, please contact TelAlaska at 1-800-478-3127 to complete your enrollment. Before we can apply the discount to an account, TelAlaska will require applicants to fill out the form below, or we can mail you a paper copy.

    Additional information on ACP can be found at acpbenefit.org/.

    A household may file a complaint against its provider via the FCC’s Consumer Complaint Center.
