TelAlaska customers may have seen recent news reports regarding a test of the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system, which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 3. Please be advised that TelAlaska Cellular presently does not transmit wireless emergency alerts. Customers with TelAlaska Cellular service should not expect to receive the test message.
A test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) for broadcast and cable operators will also occur on October 3rd. Eyecom Cable is participating in EAS alerts and viewers in Unalaska/Dutch Harbor and Galena can expect to see the test message at 10:20am Alaska time this Wednesday; it will last approximately one minute.
