Recent Cyberthreats to Home and Office Networks

    By Celine Kaplan | Recent News & Information | Comments are Closed | 30 May, 2018 | 0

TelAlaska internet customers may have seen recent news reports regarding an FBI recommendation to reboot their modems due to a cyberthreat on home and office networks. While the modems issued by TelAlaska to our customers are not the type included in the alert, we are recommending customers take the following actions to protect their networks:

    • Reboot all personal wireless devices to remove the malware in case any devices have been infected.
    • Update all devices to the latest firmware versions.
    • Ensure all login passwords are set to non-default values.
    • Ensure all remote access (HTTP, Telnet, SSH) is disabled.

To learn more about current cyberthreats, please visit https://www.us-cert.gov/ncas/alerts.
